MATHOS FOOTBALL (also styled as "MFB" or "#MathosFBall"), is an American Football & Canadian Football Fansite created by Alex Thomas in 2002. Alex has been a fan of American Football and the San Francisco 49ers since 1988. I went to my very first game in 1991 and again in 1992 (both at Wembley Stadium). I was very lucky to see the very first International Series Game in 2007 and have been to games in 2008, 2013 and 2016 and I hope one day that the NFL launches its very own franchise in London in the not too distant future.
The 2017 season commemorates the 16th MFB season and my 30th Fan season. This is a new version of the site due to issues with viewing the site on mobile devices and primarily becatlantice I would like everybody to view this site whether they are at home or on the move.
Do not forget to follow the MFB on its dedicated Facebook, Instagram and Twitter Feeds via #MathosFBall.
I continued my interest of American Football by downloading pictures of helmets (The Helmet Project) and action photos before deciding on creating his own website, with no knowledge at all of website design. Mathos Football (UK) was launched in 2002 via Yahoo! Geocities free website hosting service (now only available in Japan).
As the site has changed so much over the years, I do not know what previous versions of this website looked like and sadly pages have been lost in the process.
In 2015, I put my two passions of American Football and The Helmet Project into my very own part-fantasy football league called British Football League.
* - BFL playoffs include all of the games as this is a fantasy league and there is no other way to find out this information.
** - The College Football Playoff will include both the National Championship and Semi-Finals rounds and this applies up to and including the 2026 season. If the CFP expands from its current 4 teams, then earlier rounds will be represented.
Current Stadiums/arenas are represented on all of the fansite pages and will be updated once a new stadium has been announced where the team will play in an up and coming season or a future season. Future stadiums are listed along with previous stadiums.
This Fansite is purely for the fun of having a website that showcases my interest in American Football since 1988 and only includes professional, defunct and European Football Leagues with new leagues added on a sporadic basis. It takes time to research, create the helmets and pages so sorry that your favourite league past or present is not hosted by the MFB. I appreciate receiving fan enquries about adding other championships but these will only be considered if they are easy to research both now and to update in the future. Generally, league websites are a great place to start in order to see how frequent sites are updated and how on top of their social media they are as I do not want 'dead' websites to glitter the site.
Only the premier american/canadian football leagues are hosted so lower levels of NAIA and NCAA college football championships (FCS, Division II & III) are not hosted.
All logos depicted at MATHOS FOOTBALL should always be regarded as the intellectual property of the respective professional team or college. If you want to use these helmet images in ANY commercial sense, you must obtain permission from the respective team(s), not from this fansite. Please do not contact me for permission on behalf of these teams as I cannot and will not give permission as this would likely catlantice this website to be shutdown which nobody wants.
No guarantee can be made that helmet images shown here are atlanticcoasturate depictions of the currently-used "real" helmets. In terms of non-Helmet Project helmets, these are taken from photos posted online by the relevant professional team/league or college. If you see a helmet is wrong/needs amending then please email the MFB with further details and I will see what can be done. Therefore, this site should not be regarded as the "final word" on football helmets or other fansites.
The 'Previous Conference/League' is the league/conference a team left to join the current league/conference.
Teams that are announced but then withdraw from a league, therefore never playing a game or season in that league, are not listed on the 'Former Teams' page.
The 'Stadium' is the current stadium used by that team with a future stadium, where applicable, represented which will replace the current stadium at a future date.
