TEAM HISTORY

Atlanta Legends pay homage to its city's "heroic, larger-than-life" heroes, from Hank Aaron (Major League Baseball player) and Chipper Jones (Major League Baseball player) to the team's own offensive coordinator, Michael Vick (played for the Atlanta Falcons), as well as "the biggest legends of the civil rights movement," with their colours being purple, gold and white which "represent rich heritage, tradition and royalty." They played at the home of the Georgia State Panthers college football team.

They played their first game against the Orlando Apollos on Saturday February 9 2019 where they lost 40-6. Their first home game was against Birmingham Iron on February 24 where they again lost 28-12. After going 0-3, they finally won their first game against the Arizona Hotshots on March 3 2019.

Orlando Apollos draws its inspiration from Apollo, the Greek god of the sun, as well as Florida's "sunshine state" moniker. Deemed "a glowing testament to the power, imagery and energy made possible by the sun," its colors are navy blue, dark orange and bright orange to reflect "the warm Florida sunshine." Its debut coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission. They played at the home of the UCF (University of Central Florida) Knights college football team.

The Apollos began play on February 9, winning their first game in blowout fashion, defeating the Atlanta Legends at Spectrum Stadium, 40-6. They would follow the opening win up with another high-scoring effort on the road, defeating the San Antonio Commanders, 37-29. They would win their first five games, and were the AAF's last undefeated team in the inaugural season before losing to the Arizona Hotshots on March 16, 22-17.
