Division II Football Championship
CURRENT CHAMPIONS | HALL OF FAME | HOST STADIUMS
This game is the culmination of a 28-team single-team elimination tournament after 4 Super Region Rounds followed by the National Semi-Finals and the National Championship. Division II is the alternative to the the larger and better-funded Division I and to the scholarship-free environment offered in Division III.

Most of the earlier Championship teams switched to the Division I-A (now called Division I-Football Bowl Subdivision or FBS)/Division I-AA (now called Division I-Football Championship Subdivision or FCS) when it was created in 1978.
