SUPER BOWL 50
2010-2014/2016-PRESENT
Between 1933 (the first year that a playoff system was in place) and 1966, the Division Champions would play in the NFL Championship Game. In 1967-1969, the conferences were split into two divisions each. The Division Champions would play each other in the Conference Championship Games with the champions contesting the NFL Championship Game. The winners of the NFL Championship Game would play the AFL Championship Game winners in the Super Bowl.

The Playoffs begin in early January following the regular season, so the year represents the season rather than the year the game took place.

The top 6 per conference make the playoffs. Teams #3-#6 play in the Wild Card Playoffs. The top 2 teams receive a bye to the Divisional Playoffs with #1 playing the lowest remaining seed and #2 playing the highest remaining seed. The Divisional Playoffs winners play in the Conference Championship Game at the home of the top seed.
