Las Vegas Locomotives (2)
The United Football League began in 2009 with 4 teams based in California Redwoods (San Francisco), Florida Tuskers (Orlando), Las Vegas Locomotives (shortened to Locos) and New York Sentinels. The New York Sentinels played out of Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ and James M. Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, NY. Las Vegas went on to win the 2009 Championship Game.
2010 season
In 2010, the New York Sentinels were relocated to Hartford, CT and renamed the Hartford Colonials and the California Redwoods were relocated to become the Sacramento Mountain Lions. Omaha Nighthawks were the only expansion team with Las Vegas Locomotives winning their 2nd UFL title. John David Washington, son of American actor Denzel Washington, played for the Sacramento Mountain Lions and can now be seen in HBO's Ballers.
2011 season
In the 2011 offseason, the league continued to suffer from financial difficulties but still hoped to play with 6 teams which dropped to 4 and the Florida Tuskers relocated to become the Virginia (Hampton Roads area playing in Virginia Beach) Destroyers. The league only played 5 games, and the season ended on October 21st with the 2011 Championship Game. That same day, both Omaha Nighthawks and Sacramento Mountain Lions played a Consolation Game as a way of avoiding a mass refund of 15,000 tickets sold for the Nighthawks cancelled October 28th game.
2012 season
This season began on 26th September and ended 4 games later on 19th October. Las Vegas Locomotives were top with a 4-0 record with no Championship Game played due to extensive financial problems and dismal attendance figures.
